Mangrove Coast Fly Fishers

Sarasota, Florida

Mangrove Coast Fly Fishers, Inc. (MCFF) was established in 1996 as a not-for-profit corporation by a group of dedicated fly-fishing enthusiasts in Sarasota, Florida. Mangrove Coast Fly Fishers is a charter club of Fly Fishers International (FFI), which provides MCFF with insurance and additional member benefits.

MCFF activities are shaped by its prime location on Florida’s southwest coast, offering members a wide range of fly-fishing opportunities. The nearby Gulf of Mexico, along with local bays, flats, and beaches, provides excellent fishing for species such as snook, redfish, pompano, tarpon, and speckled trout. Freshwater fly fishing is also available within easy driving distance. At monthly meetings, fly-fishing guides and other experts share valuable insights on both local and destination angling. MCFF also organizes monthly outings that are open to all members.

Monthly meetings begin with fly-casting instruction and fly-tying demonstrations. Each meeting features a program focused on fly-fishing topics, along with raffles and auctions. These gatherings also provide a great opportunity for members to socialize and share recent fishing experiences.

Beyond fly fishing, MCFF actively supports local conservation efforts. Club members participate in seagrass surveys, assist a local marine laboratory with tag-and-release programs for hatchery-reared snook and redfish, teach fly-fishing skills to students and disabled veterans, and donate to local organizations dedicated to water conservation and habitat restoration.

We promote catch and release, conservation, and above all, encourage and help those who desire to learn more about all aspects of fly fishing.
